BERING STRAITS NATIVE CORPORATION and PARAGON PROFESSIONAL SERVICES Detention Officer in El Paso, Texas

Experience: Minimum of4 Years detention/Security Experience/Military (prison, detention center, etc.) is required for this position

Education: High School Diploma /GED is required per policy **Bachelors degree from Accredited University preferred

Language: English required (Spanish is a plus) to communicate with clients and staff. *English literacy and ability to write reports in English. *Ability to speak, write and comprehend a second language (Spanish or any language) preferred

Driver's License: Standard Class C License is required to complete assigned job tasks.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age when applying for position or older per policy
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or LPR
  • Can not be currently Employed by federal agency or active-duty military
  • Pass Government Clearance (T1/T2) Pass Drug screening. Obtain ACA correctional officer certification within 1 year of employment. Meet the minimum physical requirement qualifications for the position. Valid state security license Texas Commission 2 or 3

Duties:Paragon Professional Services, LLC a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Detention Officer in El Paso, TX. This position is for federally contracted detention officer position that falls under the scope of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The position is in El Paso, Texas, at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service Processing Center. The detention officer position is a multi-encompassing and dynamic job that requires physical, mental, and cognitive abilities associated with a detention facility.

  • Perform all duties as directed in accordance with PBNDS/ACA and ICE facility policy standards.
  • Follow and abide by company polices and directives.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as fires, facility disturbances, riots, etc.
  • Prevent and detect contraband.
  • Prevent and detect escape attempts.
  • Observe, prevent, and report all instances of disorder or non-compliance as directed by ICE and GPS policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee must maintain a constant state of mental alertness at all times. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential job functions will require maintaining physical condition necessary for bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing, and complex movements for prolonged periods of time.

Applicants must be able to perform through pat-down searches and be able to physically search physical structures for contraband.

Applicants must be able to respond to emergency situations, such as fires and run for prolonged distances with a fire extinguisher. Applicants must also be able to respond to physical disturbances that are violent in nature. Applicant must be able to assist in quelling physical altercations, as well as defending themselves from physical assault.

Job is performed in a multitude of settings.There are various positions that could tentatively be performed on any given 8 - 12-hour day.These include the following:

Exposure to extreme climate temperatures and conditions

Exposure to sun and climate conditions, to include standing up and/or walking for more than 8 hours.

Sitting at desk and periodically walking to conduct security checks.

Utilizing computers in offices or buildings

Confined to office space for more than 8 hours.

DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • This positionis not subjectto federal requirements regarding Department of Trans ortation safety-sensitive functions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
