The primary purpose of this position, NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, WG-3705-09 potential WG-3705-11, is to provide a Nondestructive Inspection craftsman for the Aircraft Repair Branch, Surfaces Team. Duty Title: Nondestructive Tester Responsibilities Use the ultrasonic, eddy current penetrant, and magnetic particle methods, applicable tools, equipment, and bench stock items, perform inspections of aircraft, engine, missile, ground support equipment, etc., various parts and components, support equipment structural members, and other materials for which inspection procedures and/or acceptability standards are inadequate or not available. Serve as NDI Technical Advisor, advise responsible shop supervisors, engineering, quality assurance and other related functions of defects found, their extent and their effect of the quality and serviceability of products. Serve as NDI Joint Oil Analysis and JETSCAN program monitor for all assigned and transient aircraft. Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. TARGETED POSITION: This position is a developmental WG-09 Target WG-11 position. This position may be filled at any grade level. Individual selected may be promoted without further competition, upon meeting all legal and regulatory requirements. Starting salary indicated on this vacancy announcement is for the (WG-09). Attainment of knowledge, skills, and abilities is required before promotion to the next higher grade and is dependent on demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the next higher grade level, meeting all regulatory requirements, and recommendation for promotion by the supervisor.
