The Training Instructor I, HIM designs, delivers, and evaluates non-clinical Revenue Cycle/HIM education and training programs for staff, management and other departments utilizing systems and/or modules to support the strategic goals in the Northern/Central Regions of the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. Includes developing end user system training and developing operational policies. Co-manages all aspects of systems training involving Revenue Cycle/ Health Information Management (HIM), or professional billing coding.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Training Instructor I, HIM at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Coordinate and work closely with Epic Training Expert(s) at Epic headquarters to ensure end user training is developed in accordance to Epic's timeline for the northern region.

  • Develop and implement end user testing scripts loaded into Epic's Testing System and continue to update them during testing and training which occur pre go-live and post go live.

  • Perform needs assessments, analyze results, and identify training opportunities based on results.

  • Develop and design educational offerings based on needs assessments and/or organizational/departmental requirements.

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of educational offerings to ensure that knowledge and/or skills learned are being applied on the job, and have an impact on staff performance in meeting departmental/organizational goals.

  • Serve as the Department and IT liaison for the northern region.

  • Troubleshoot problems and address questions from end users, and provide off-hour support on an as needed basis. Provide off hours go live/upgrade support as requested. 8. Review and test each new release and enhancement; analyze impact on Revenue Cycle/HIM modules via collaboration with IT and Epic, assist in report development to support northern leadership.

  • Provide consultative support to Central and Southern regional management as it relates to workflows, policies and procedures when necessary to ensure they are aligned across HMH.

  • Review governmental agency websites for updates and regulatory changes, conducts monthly review sessions with the Revenue Cycle/HIM team.

  • Manage and maintain documentation related to the Network Legal Medical Record Committee. (minutes, testing and validation).

  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned

  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Minimum of 2 or more years of education/training experience.

  • System implementation experience.

  • Experience in healthcare related field.

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a related field.

  • Two or more years of education/training experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Epic Certifications in respective assigned Epic module(s) within 6 months of hire.

  • Attend Epic's Manager's Training Courses within 1 year of being hired.

  • Maintain Certification via Annual New Version Training (Epic NVT).
