Hackensack Meridian Health Behaviorist Early Intervention - Per Diem in Edison, New Jersey

As part of an interdisciplinary team, this position is responsible for providing evaluations, assessments and/or intervention using a behavioral approach (Applied Behavior Analysis) for children under the age of three and their families within the Early Intervention Program. Services are provided within the natural environment to enhance functional behavior in the home and community settings.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Behaviourist Early Intervention at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  1. Provides Developmental Intervention to children and their families. Designs and implements behavioral programs to improve the quality of life of children and families. Coordinates with team members and caregivers for IFSP review meetings. Trains families in implementing behavioral home programs and collecting data when appropriate. Utilizes ongoing reassessment to modify outcomes/strategies and behavior programs. Demonstrates knowledge of community resources.

  2. Provides comprehensive Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) of patients. Conducts evaluations and assessments according to current NJEIS regulations and department policies and procedures. Gathers information and uses appropriate assessment tools and strategies. Demonstrates appropriate observation skills. Interprets results and observations accurately. Assists family in developing appropriate measureable outcomes based on evaluation findings. Writes reports that present finding which have been accurately analyzed and interpreted and written in family-friendly language. Participates in team meetings and conducts periodic assessments to identify child and family needs and to measure progress.

  3. Completes and submits Service Encounter Verification logs according to department policies and procedures. Completes daily routine note and submits monthly to family and medical record. Completes administrative forms as required. Follows department guidelines for productivity.

  4. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  5. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. Degree in Special Education, Autism, Psychology or related area.

  2. Minimum of two years clinical experience in Early Intervention including autism spectrum disorder, behavior and Applied Behavior Analysis practices.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  1. As indicated by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services Practitioner Requirements for enrollment in Early Intervention.
