Scope of Job

Adjunct Professor – May be used when a qualified person from business, industry, government, private practice, or another institution of higher education may be teaching a course or participating in the teaching of a course at UTRGV . Qualifications are to be determined by individual departments and approved by their deans. Appointments to the faculty with an adjunct title may be with or without pay and shall be for a stated period of time not to exceed one academic year. Such appointments shall terminate upon expiration of the stated period of appointment without a requirement for notification of nonrenewal. If UTRGV determines that it is to its benefit, it may offer reappointment to an adjunct faculty member in accordance with the Texas Education Code Section 51.943.

Please Note

Texas law requires faculty members whose primary language is not English to demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language ( TOEFL ) or a satisfactory test score of 6.0 on the International English Language Testing System ( IELTS ).
