Position Description Provide design support for new product development teams creating electromechanical products for the medical device industry. Performs specified electrical engineering support activities such as design and test of electrical circuits, motor control devices, sensors, switches and other electrical equipment components. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Design, develop and implement solution strategies to meet customer and design requirements Execute new product development projects according to solid project plans and project management principles (scope, timeline, milestones and risk-based decision making) Test and verify new designs Implement designs into production Create specifications and technical documents (assembly procedures, wiring diagrams, installation instructions, operation manuals, user guides, etc.) Design, schematic capture, and prototype microcontroller and microprocessor based products incorporating sensors, motor controls and UX elements Design to and qualify new designs to applicable regulatory standards such as UL, FCC, and CE Design and implement test fixtures to verify the circuit boards and/or systems functionality for production testing Understand user experiences to be able to make informed design decisions Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Minimum Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering 5+ years of electrical engineering experience Hardware development through full product life-cycle Ability to specify and evaluate electrical components based on performance, lifetime, cost, and availability Experienced in schematic capture and printed circuitboard layout using Altium Designer. Familiarity with development and debug tools. Demonstrated ability to use a multi-meter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, and logic analyzer Demonstrated project management skills Problem solving and critical thinking skills are essential Effective oral and written communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail Strong leadership presence with ability to influence and empower others Self-starter with strong initiative and personal accountability Preferred: 3+ years medical device experience Experience managing or leading others in a similar capacity, and/or demonstrated experience working cross-functionally in the engineering environment. Familiarity with embedded systems, microprocessors, and communication protocols Understanding of EMI and UL requirements. Experienced in the design of experiments, data analysis, statistical methods and presentation of results.
