HelpSystems LLC Senior CloudOps Engineer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

This role will focus on deploying and maintaining well architected cloud infrastructure solutions to support our applications' business and technical requirements as we establish a significant presence within the SaaS business market. The ideal candidate will be familiar with current and emerging cloud technologies, system architectures, automation tools and technologies. This role must work closely with application developers, sales, and support engineers across multiple product lines to deliver resilient cloud solutions in a team-oriented environment. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design and implement state-of-the-art technical solutions on cloud infrastructure that address business requirements for scalability, reliability, security, automation and performance
  • Perform operational engineering for activities which include platform upgrades, server patching, monitoring, configuration, troubleshooting and documentation
  • Identify, design, and deploy appropriate monitoring/alerting of service events related to performance, scalability, availability, and reliability
  • Provide 24/7 support as part of an on-call rotation team that responds to afterhours infrastructure alerts and calls from the application support team requiring infrastructure support.
  • Define and maintain critical cloud policies regarding Security, Service Level Agreements, Disaster Recovery, Shared Responsibility, Acceptable Use, Data Retention etc.
  • Contribute to cloud strategy discussions, and decisions on overall cloud design and best approach for implementing cloud solutions
  • Support the adoption of DevOps methodology and Agile project management
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a broad group of stakeholders
  • Act as a technical resource and mentor to less experienced peers
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical Skills:
    • Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a similar IT-related discipline (preferred)
    • Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, CKA, or other relevant cloud-related certification (preferred)
    • Strong DevOps skills, including AWS Cloud Operations and Administration experience
    • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), preferably with Terraform, and familiarity with Crossplane (a plus)
    • Expertise in Source Code Management (SCM), CI/CD practices, and Agile workitem management
    • Strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) skills, with a focus on Problem Management, Availability Management, SLA Management, and other core SRE principles
    • Proficiency in Observability, Alerting, and On-Call/Incident Response procedures
    • Proficiency in Platform skills, particularly in Kubernetes Infrastructure and Operations Support
    • Experience with the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) landscape (desired)
    • Cloud networking expertise, especially within Kubernetes environments
    • Familiarity with Helm and experience with KOPS (a plus)
    • Experience deploying web and service-based applications in Windows/Linux environments
    • Experience in a wide range of database management (SQL, NoSQL, documentDB flavors, etc.)
    • Understanding of VPC Configuration, Networking, Network Access Control Lists (NACLs), compliance, security groups, firewalls, Network Address Translation (NAT), and packet filtering
    • Proficiency in relevant scripting languages
    • Working knowledge of IP networking, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work efficiently on multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
    • Good written and oral communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff

Expe ience:

  • Typically requires 7-10 years of DevOps-like experience or experience in a cloud operations management role
