EASTLAND MEMORIAL Sterile Processing Technician (Sterile Processing Tech) in Eastland, Texas
The Sterile Processing Technician (or LVN) is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, sterilization, and storage of medical instruments and equipment in a healthcare setting. This role ensures that surgical and medical instruments are safe for patient use, following strict infection control policies and procedures. Key duties include cleaning and disinfecting instruments, operating sterilization equipment, monitoring sterilization cycles, maintaining accurate records, and managing inventory. The position also involves adhering to safety protocols, participating in quality improvement activities, and handling supplies and equipment in a physically demanding environment. Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and knowledge of infection control standards are essential for success in this role.
Job Requirements:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Certification in sterile processing or a related field preferred.
Current LVN/LPN Licensure in the state of Texas preferred.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of hospital supply and sterile packaging procedures preferred.
Basic computer skills preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Certification in sterile processing or a related field preferred.
Current LVN/LPN Licensure in Texas preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in a sterile processing or similar environment preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and carry supplies/equipment.
Ability to lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Manual dexterity required for handling, wrapping, sterilizing, and moving medical instruments.
Visual capability to inspect supplies.
Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
Potential exposure to sharps when preparing instrument packages for sterilization.
Work environment typically quiet, but may involve physical labor and exposure to sterilization processes.
