About the position:

In this position, you will play an integral role in the success of the Syracuse Parts Distribution Center Accounting Team. As part of this role, you will provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing standard and non-standard journal entries for income and balance sheet statements, and compiling various reports. You will work collaboratively with multiple functional areas to solve problems and achieve organizational goals, while identifying opportunities to improve business processes.

You will:

  • Aid in completion of month-end closing activities including preparation of standard and non-standard journal entries for income and balance sheet statements and other accounting reports with appropriate supporting material, research of unusual entries or general ledger balances, preparation of various reports to be distributed to management within deadlines.
  • Broad working knowledge of various accounting standards and guidelines preferred which may include US GAAP, JSOX, IAS, and IFRS.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication and presentation skills required.
  • A high level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
  • A bias for action with the ability to execute plans and meet deadlines are essential to this role.
  • Research and/or review analysis of unusual entries and/or entries that do not balance. Reconciles/resolves majority of entries. Forwards most complex/sensitive issues appropriately with recommendation.
  • Prepares financial reports and/or conducts/analyzes audits or reconciliations.
  • Exchanges information and resolves sensitive, complex issues with high level management/professionals from outside organizations and/or audit firms.
  • Has team leader role for major-complex projects.
  • Is proven to be a team leader within the department:

  • Has authority for employment decisions and to appraise performance. Provides work direction to individuals or department and assists in resolving problems. Implements employee relations techniques and resolves personnel issues. Supports the Company Hoshin as may be required.

  • As Supervisor, is responsible for ensuring that all of team’s work is completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Follows procedures, policies and/or guidelines for decisions but is expected to modify procedures/practices as needed.
  • Decisions are not typically subject to check and can have significant impact on work results of own department as well as on the operations of multiple departments/divisions.

  • Conducts research and recommends implementation of accounting guidelines.

  • Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.
  • Provides accounting related advice and counsel to internal employees.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Maintains records of financial documents with appropriate supporting material.
  • Maintain deferred revenue schedules and perform monthly revenue and cost journal entries. This includes accounting for subscription billing.
  • Reconcile and review prepaid licenses against purchase orders and sales orders.
  • Receives general direction and is expected to create, develop and/or approve procedural practices using independent judgment and discretion.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required
  • 6 or more years of multi-faceted accounting and business-related experience with previous project management and team supervisory experience needed.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred but not required.
  • SAP or ERP system experience is a plus.

About the total compensation package:

Salary – $73,052 - $93,662 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation – This position may qualify for relocation.
