Insight Global Sprinkler Service Technician in East Peoria, Illinois

Job Description

Insight Global's large building automation client is looking for two Sprinkler Service Technicians, a Sprinkler Inspector and a Sprinkler Fitter, to support jobs in and around Peoria, IL. As a Sprinkler Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and functionality of fire protection systems. Your expertise will be essential in inspecting and testing fire sprinkler systems, identifying hazards, and verifying compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities include:

System Inspection and Testing:

  • Inspect and test installed fire sprinkler systems to determine system adequacy and functionality.

Verify that all equipment, including sprinkler heads, valves, and alarms, is operating correctly.

  • Conduct visual inspections of buildings to identify corroded or damaged components.

  • Ensure proper system activation, water flow, and alarm functionality.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and findings.

  • Generate detailed reports outlining system deficiencies and recommended corrective actions.

  • Communicate inspection results to clients, building owners, and relevant stakeholders.

Code Compliance:

  • Familiarize yourself with local, state, and national fire codes and regulations.

  • Ensure that fire sprinkler systems adhere to these codes and standards.

  • Provide guidance on necessary upgrades or modifications to meet compliance requirements.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other inspectors, technicians, and project managers.

  • Coordinate with utility companies and project stakeholders.

  • Participate in meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and updates.

As a Sprinkler Fitter, you will be responsible for performing service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications. These include but are not limited to wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge and fire pumps. Other responsibilities include:

  • Receive service calls from Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.

  • Customer sites may range from small commercial sites to large industrial sites, healthcare and/or retail.

  • Contact customer representative and ascertain equipment/systems problems.

  • Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. in order to diagnose and repair equipment.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.

  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.

Skills and Requirements

MUST HAVES:

  • 5 +years of experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler and Suppression systems.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Valid drivers license and driving record.

  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.

  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.

  • Must be able to follow, read and understand all safety requirements of the company and the customers.

  • PERC card (may be obtained prior to/upon starting work).

MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • NICET III Inspection and Testing Water-Based Systems

  • NFPA Water-Based Inspection, Testing and Maintenance

  • ASSE I50I0 Water-Based Protection Systems

  • Completion of a DOL approved Sprinkler Fitter Apprenticeship Program null
