Community Housing Innovations Food Handler in East Patchogue, New York

CHI is looking for full-time and part-time Food Handlers for our Suffolk programs. You will package, prepare, and distribute pre-made meals to clients in an emergency housing setting. This is accomplished by performing the following functions: Prepare and serve meals during shift. Prepare meal kits for future distribution. Advise Program Manager of needs and complete food orders from vendor. Serve as the point person for Contracted Food Vendor personnel. Thoroughly clean entire work area after each meal distribution. Record meal count and submit weekend statistics to Program Manager. Maintain binder for food service and update tracking sheets and menus monthly. Attend staff meetings and training as scheduled. WHAT DO I NEED? Education: High school diploma or equivalent required Certificates or Licenses: Current New York State Food Handlers Certificate Experience: One to two years working in a food service environment. Insurance: Valid automobile insurance & drivers license Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required, bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. Computer skills: Competency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless and disabled populations. Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to detail.

Salary: $16.83 Overtime available
