Position Summary

The Office of Research and Innovation (OR&I) is a Major Administrative Unit (MAU) with more than 500 employees who support MSU’s research and creative activity by administering research funding, ensuring research integrity for both faculty and students, providing grant support services, fostering collaboration, licensing university inventions, and overseeing regulatory compliance.

Provides administrative support for the Senior Advisor s and Chief of Staff for the Office of Research and Innovation, including calendar management and general support . The selected candidate will also be responsible for providing administrative support to Center and Institute Directors. This position requires an organized, experienced, flexible, and enthusiastic professional who possesses strong communication and customer service skills, is adept at preparing reports, has a strong attention to detail, can independently prioritize tasks that require immediate attention, and can maintain highly confidential information. Tasks include:

Manages the Senior Advisors and Chief of Staff calendar s in alignment with strategic priorities; collects briefing and meeting materials .

Drafts correspondence and presentation materials

Interact with internal stakeholders with high degree of professionalism, integrity, and customer service .

Manages confidential files .

Assists in planning logistics and agendas for meetings and events .

Makes travel arrangements and manages conference registrations; reconciles travel reimbursements.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education with course work in word processing, typing, shorthand, and grammar; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive University work experience in maintaining account ledgers, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software; editing, composing correspondence, taking dictation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
