Position Summary

The administrative business analyst's primary responsibilities include:

  1. Facilitating the human resources functions for MSU Finance, ensuring that all personnel procedural requirements are followed. This includes overseeing personnel records, creating and monitoring staff, student and TOC postings and hiring processes, and serving as unit time entry specialist overseeing time tracking systems.
  2. Perform functions related to MSU payment card transactions, collaborating with external travel agencies and MSU departments to research, reconcile and prepare financial documents to facilitate posting activity to the general ledger.
  3. Support and deliver activities encouraging employee engagement, facilitate in-person meetings, and serve as liaison to the communication team to facilitate employee newsletters and messaging board content.
  4. Creatively approach special projects, analyzing operations to make changes to add efficiency and overall process improvement. Cross train to support overall Finance budget and HR activities, including financial payments, purchasing, facilities and other duties as assigned.

This position is remote friendly, with the expectation of on-campus presence on a regular basis. This is typically referred to as Hybrid, with the flexibility of regular remote work mixed with in-office work as mutually agreed upon with the supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Desired Qualifications

Four-year college degree program in a business-related field. One to three years of related and progressively responsible or expansive work experience in accounting procedures and monitoring policies and procedures, and strong technical skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Demonstrates a work orientation that includes problem solving, taking initiative, and continuous learning; Proven ability to handle confidential matters and materials; Knowledge of University business and HR policies and procedures; Experience with University systems including SAP, Kuali Financial System, Concur and Business Intelligence; Experience assisting in developing policies and procedures surrounding accounting and related business functions; Knowledge and experience in travel account reconciliation; Advance skills and experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access; Experience in Microsoft Teams.
