Job Title: General Laborer

Job Description

Pack steel off the conveyor/packaging line (75% of the day). Band steel using an air gun. Down end material. Weigh the final product. Perform visual inspections of steel coils. Interpret paperwork and read work orders. Place cardboard on steel coils to protect from denting/scratching.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 6 AM to 4 PM, or Tuesday to Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM. All candidates must be able to work both schedules.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in East Chicago, Indiana.

Work Environment

The facility is renovated with newer lighting, machines, and equipment. It is a very clean facility with regulated temperature to prevent steel from sweating and rusting. Big fans keep the environment cool and heaters are used in the winter. The Operations Manager takes pride in the facility and expects employees to keep it clean. The company promotes from within, with all current Plant Managers and Supervisors having started from the production floor. It is a family-owned company where the owners engage with all employees. Currently, there are 28 employees, and the company is opening a second shift and planning a new warehouse due to business growth.
