SUMMARYThe Maintenance Tech I maintains and repairs physical structures of the non-hotel buildings and public areas, including exteriors and pedestrian travel ways. This position also maintains and repairs equipment as needed, performs basic carpentry, assists in managing rubbish and snow removal as well as the following essential duties and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES(include the following, other duties may be assigned)

Accepts and closes out maintenance work orders.

Assists other departments as requested including assessing and repairing equipment that is essential to the function of the workspace.

Operates snow removal equipment to maintain safe walking surfaces for staff and guests on walkways and stairs.

Assists in the performance of property inspections with attention to detail.

Ensures safety and emergency protocols are followed in the carrying out of all duties

Maintain effective, open & professional communication with all departments and guests.

Maintains good working relationships with vendors.

Other duties as assigned, which could be related or unrelated to original position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must hold a valid State of Vermont Driver\'s License and be eligible for enrollment as a driver on Burke Mountain Resort Commercial Automobile policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally exposed to vibration, risk of electrical shock, fumes or airborne particles and working in high or precarious places and near moving mechanical parts.

RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well
