Zeigler Bros Inc QA Technician in EAST BERLIN, Pennsylvania

Come join our growing team!! Zeigler Bros. Inc. is an established manufacturer of high-end specialty feeds for the aquaculture, pet, and bio-medical research industries. We are currently seeking to fill the role of QA Technician.

The incumbent will be responsible for monitoring the production processes to assure all Quality and Food Safety program standards are met and take appropriate actions to prevent the production and shipment of non-conforming products. This position reports to the QA Supervisor and works closely with Food Safety, Production, Nutrition, Customer Service, and other operational units performing the designated functions in the assigned area which will include but not be limited to the responsibilities below:

  • Implement and monitor procedures in accordance with the company's quality and food safety programs.

  • Maintain current surveillance over all raw materials, products, and manufacturing parameters to verify that ingredients and products meet standards. Determine accept/reject status and take appropriate action.

- Perform chemical and physical testing as required to assure compliance with the above.

  • Coordinate assays of products and ingredients with independent labs per QA protocols.

  • Verify assay reports (COAs) against standards and report out of spec (OoS) findings.

  • Issue releases of products per approved COAs and communicate to Customer Service, Sales, and Shipping.

  • Inspect and release designated shipments requiring Pre-Shipment QA Approval.

  • Maintain QA and associated records (computer and paper files) in an organized manner to facilitate accurate and timely retrieval of information as needed. Generate reports as needed.

  • Retrieve samples to test as directed by QA, Food Safety, or Nutrition for complaints or other special projects.

  • Implement, monitor, and perform tests, paperwork, and procedures in accordance with contract, toll manufacturing, and registration programs.

  • Assist QA Supervisor with Investigation of Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs) and recommendations for disposition.

  • Assist the QA Supervisor with an investigation of customer complaints for documentation on Customer Satisfaction Opportunity (CSO) forms.

  • Assist in gathering and prepping samples specified for particular orders that require QA testing as directed by the QA Supervisor.

Must be able to read and write the English language. Must possess excellent computer skills including, Word, Outlook, and Excel. Highly proficient in Excel. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented.

Must be able to stand, walk, climb, reach, and lift at least 55 pounds.

Must pass a job related pre-employment physical and drug screening

Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED

- Must be able to read and write English language

Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or Experience:

  • Good organizational skills, proficiency in Word and Excel with the ability to clearly communicate and interact with people are required.

Competencies:

  • Effective communication skills, oral and written.

  • Effective organizational skills

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • No supervisory responsibility
