Assembly & Test Mechanic - Full-time - Portland (OR), US.

We are looking for an Assembly & Test Mechanic to join our FE_WIBU team in Portland, OR. The Assembly & Test Mechanic will directly support assembly and testing of Vertical Turbine Pumps. They will support Quality Engineers and Production Planning by serving as a liasion for the shop. They will provide vital data and information to Operations staff for process improvements. They will support Test Engineering with set-up and layout data and inventory of test equipment. They will provide direct input to Operations for Production order and routing sequence improvements. They will work in accordance with customer requirements, Quality plan, SPSI Engineering standards, policies, and procedures.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assemble and build turbine pumps not limited to vertical type pumps

  • Inspects parts prior to building to ensure part numbers are correct and match the Bill of Materials (BOM).

  • Use of various precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure that tolerances are maintained throughout assembly.

  • Inspects completed work and ensures that work conforms to requirements listed on the Work Order.

  • Provide assistance to Lead Test Mechanic in preparing pumps for performance tests.

  • Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management efforts.

  • Use of pneumatic tools along with ladders and scaffolding at different heights.

  • Wear proper PPE: gloves, ear plugs, steel toe boots, and safety glasses.

  • Review and monitor production records, QC records, stability protocols, and other documentation to assure compliance.

  • Adhere to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Requires at least 5 years work experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to work independently to analyze and resolve work-related problems.

  • A millwright certification is preferred, but not mandatory.

  • Strong computer experience.

  • Strong communication skills both oral and written.
