Job Title: Pharmacist I
Your main role will be utilizing your clinical skills to complete utilization management reviews such as prior authorizations, coverage exceptions, and quantity limit exceptions. You will perform these reviews independently while working with a team of your peers and other pharmacy professionals.
Performance will be measured by monthly quality and productivity goals. All new pharmacists are considered potential long-term employees, with the hope to hire on as permanent employees in the future.
Contracts are evaluated every six months for extension.
Responsibilities
Complete utilization management reviews including prior authorizations, coverage exceptions, and quantity limit exceptions.
Work independently while collaborating with a team of pharmacy professionals.
Meet monthly quality and productivity goals.
Potentially cross-train for other departments such as Medication Therapy Management (MTM) or Call Center Counseling (CCC).
Possibly review specialized cases after peak season, such as oncology and hepatitis C.
Essential Skills
Two years of work experience in retail, managed care, or clinical pharmacy.
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science Pharmacy degree.
Current pharmacist license in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy in the state where the position is located.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Motivated self-starter with a drive to deliver results.
Ability to make clinical decisions independently.
Flexibility and resourcefulness.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency with learning new computer systems, basic IT troubleshooting, and using multiple monitors.
Proficient in Word and Excel.
Ability to type 35+ words per minute.
Previous PBM or Case/Care Management experience.
Retail pharmacy experience (e.g., CVS, Walgreens) preferred over hospital experience.
Work Environment
These are fully remote, work-from-home positions and can be located in any state except California, Hawaii, or Virginia. Candidates must not have lived or worked in Virginia. Core business hours are 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM CST Monday through Friday, with newer contractors typically starting between 9-10 AM CST. Shifts are determined by a team bid based on seniority, and schedules are subject to change based on business needs. Candidates should plan for a full-time schedule plus overtime during peak times (November through May). The team rotates weekend shifts and shares holidays, with weekend rotations every other weekend during peak season and every sixth weekend outside of peak season. Candidates should be prepared to work one of the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays in 2025. Training will be Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST, for the first 10-16 weeks. Time off during training is minimal, with exceptions potentially during Thanksgiving and Christmas due to trainer PTO. Contractors have up to 120 hours of unpaid time off per year, based on seniority.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $55.00/hr.
