About the Role

The Gatehouse and LTL Supervisor will supervise personnel of yard, customer service, and gate dispatchers in all aspects of PUandD bookings and customer service-related functions to include training, work practices, productivity, and discipline, ensuring efficient operations to include compliance with policies and regulations as applicable. Ensure communication flow for equipment control to the gatehouse manager.

What you'll do:

  • Ensure processing of Less-Than-Load (LTL) documentation, Bills of Lading (BOL), arrival notices, etc. Maintain files and record and forward collections and transmittals.
  • Supervise labor in loading, unloading, processing, and delivery of freight.
  • Collection and reconciliation of freight payments
  • Process claims for OSandD.
  • Supervise daily gatehouse PUandD and customer service operations.
  • Manage Matson and Maersk bookings, billings, and reporting.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external customers, union labor, and interdepartmental associates.
  • Create and retain vessel and barge reports.
  • Create/review detention reports and Matson third-party billings.
  • Ensure DOT, OSHA, and HazMat regulations, rules, and procedures are adhered to including the management of safety meeting minutes and hours of service documentation.
  • Occasionally attend daily safety meetings.
  • Accountable for efficient customer service and road operations to include daily road dispatches, create/submit dispatches if and as needed. Review weekly gatehouse PUandD and customer service cost reports with gatehouse manager.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction while adhering to company policies and standards.
  • Assist gatehouse manager with all warehouse and gatehouse-related operations as needed.
  • Create and submit weekly Maersk ancillary and update the monthly Outport and Genset billings at the absence of the gatehouse manager as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret the collective bargaining agreement as well as discipline under the guidelines of the agreement.

You have these skills:

And thes qualifications:

  • One to two years' experience in a transportation-related field.
  • Extensive computer software, report writing, and data entry knowledge including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, and Word. Proficient in use of Internet and data entry skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information and make appropriate decisions in a number of conditions under tight timeframes to meet cost and service requirements.
  • Ability to exhibit flexibility and adapt to change and stress in ambiguous situations. Able to adapt to changing hours and other variables.
  • Strong supervisory and team-building skills. Ability to establish goals, set priorities, and schedule daily responsibilities in a constantly changing environment.
  • Must be able to problem solve multiple issues from varying angles, resulting in the best possible decision for the company as a whole.
  • Interacts effectively and develops rapport with associates, managers, departments, and locations. Must work effectively with customers, vendors, and labor groups.
  • Evaluate situations and take initiative on issues as needed.
  • Adapt to and work effectively within a variety of situations with individuals and groups, promoting teamwork and cooperation.
  • Must be able to take ownership over tasks and strive for continued improvement.

  • Ability to supervise and discipline under union contract environments.
  • Ability to work various shifts and hours including weekends and holidays as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to set in front of a computer for at least two hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift 10 lbs. on occasion.
  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, kneel, reach, push pull, talk, and hear.
  • Work in all types of weather conditions and perform work outside as needed.
