Hiring Range: $ 40,727.00 - $44,908.00
Workdays/Hours: Monday - Friday / 7:30am-4:00pm
Devoted to maintaining and repairing City property, vehicles, roads and traffic systems, equipment and facilities, providing custodial services, and collecting, transporting and disposing municipal solid and yard waste through the performance of semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Perform standardized work following prescribed procedures and instructions, requiring minimal prior training or experience. There is an established and specified routine to be followed and limited decision-making, restricted to choosing and safely using the proper work tools.
Responsible for cleaning facilities and/or equipment; performing basic maintenance of equipment, grounds, and facilities; performing manual labor; assisting with projects that require semi-skilled labor; providing customer service; and keeping records and reporting maintenance needs to higher authority that fall outside of the scope of the work assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities
Mow lawns, perform weed eating, edge lawns, and trim small trees and shrubs to maintain the appearance of properties.
Operate pressure washing equipment to remove graffiti and other stains from surfaces.
Select from a variety of chemicals based on surface, weather, and type of graffiti to use for removal.
Identify and remove displaced shopping carts from the premises and surrounding areas.
Perform tasks such as leaf removal, debris clean-up, mulching, and maintaining the cleanliness and order of outdoor spaces.
Safely operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment, including mowers, trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, and pressure washers.
Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Work effectively with other team members to complete projects on time and to a high standard.
Work with neighborhoods, non-profits and other volunteers for clean-ups, plantings, street fairs, information sessions, etc. during and outside normal work hours.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)
One year of maintenance or customer service experience related to assignment.
A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.

Willing to work at least six projects outside of normal working hours (evenings/weekends) every year as needed.
A bility to lift and carry 50 pounds for 20 yards.
