Here’s the Gist:

Wolfspeed's Materials Business is seeking a high potential, resourceful, problem-solving Automation Manager with the capability to lead the design and ownership of a large-scale, mission-critical factory automation system.  The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast paced, deadline-oriented manufacturing environment and work constructively with a cross-functional team of process owners, manufacturing personnel, engineers, and technology specialists. The role will be responsible for directing an automation team in delivering multiple concurrent projects from concept through design and install.  The Automation Manager will additionally act as the internal owner for the production technology, interfacing with multiple stakeholders to deliver reliable and capable automation to the business.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Provide industrial automation leadership for automated factory-scale solutions that produce SiC substrates.
  • Chair a stakeholder working group that will identify and prioritize enhancements to deliver a reliable and flexible controls capability for a high-value process.
  • Work with engineering, management, and finance to identify benefits and justification for process-supporting automation projects.
  • Lead a high-performing hardware and software workgroup in delivering the business's priorities.
  • Ensure assigned projects are executed on time and within scope and budget.
  • Establish strategy for bringing new capabilities on line.
  • Apply good engineering practices to achieve continuous improvement.

This Job is Right for You if You Have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Control, or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years Engineering experience with project or technology ownership in a manufacturing or industrial automation environment.
  • 5+ years team leadership of a technical group.
  • Experience with a variety of industrial automation solutions including Rockwell CompactLogix, Inductive Ignition, data historians, Manufacturing Execution Systems, and industrial networking.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High energy, self-motivated attitude and the ability to interface effectively with coworkers at every level of the company
  • Excellent verbal communication, written communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using MS Project or similar software
  • Experience with Agile project management

This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.
