Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Assistant Tribal Prosecutor OVW Targeted Support in Durant, Oklahoma
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Responsible for prosecuting criminal, juvenile, wildlife, traffic and deprived actions on behalf of the Choctaw Nation as assigned by the Lead Tribal Prosecutor.
Salary: 80-90k
Primary Tasks:
Represent the Choctaw Nation in criminal matters within the reservation/jurisdiction of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Represent the Choctaw Nation in cases involving domestic violence /sexual assault within the jurisdiction of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma as assigned by the Tribal Prosecutor.
Facilitate communication with professionals in the legal community, ICW, and federal, state, and local officials to coordinate juvenile matters involving or related to members of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Maintain good inter-departmental relations and communication with the judicial department, Children and Family Services, State offices, all law enforcement departments and other legal departments.
Help draft legislation affecting children, criminal and juvenile laws, to be considered by the Tribal Council, as directed.
Assist CN Tribal Police and ICW investigators and perform training as needed
Attend all MDT, SART, CCRT and other CNO multi-disciplinary teams related to sexual assault/ domestic violence
Perform other tasks as may be assigned.
Job Requirements:
Juris Doctorate from accredited law school
Licensed to practice law by a State within the United States
Experience with criminal, juvenile, and deprived case procedures.
Two [2] years of experience as a prosecuting attorney and/or tribal attorney general position
Jury trial experience in felony, misdemeanor and deprived custody cases
