DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Custodial Worker 1, you will be involved in routine manual work in public institutional buildings and surrounding grounds. These duties involve the use of custodial supplies and modern cleaning equipment and may involve the moving and lifting of heavy furniture. You will perform general cleaning duties such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing of walls, baseboards, floors, handrails, elevators, mirrors, interior windows, windowsills, ash trays, air vents, Venetian blinds, curtains, light fixtures, file cabinets, wardrobes, nightstands, water fountains, bathroom fixtures, doors, wheelchairs, Geri chairs, and tray chairs. This work is performed in accordance with a well-established routine and is subject to inspection to meet standards of cleanliness.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (7.5 hours/day; 37.5 hours/week) Work hours: Positions are available on 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:00 PM) and 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:00 PM), rotating days and weekends, with 30-minute lunch. Preferred Qualifications (not required): Experience working in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital Experience interacting with patients or residents Experience cleaning bodily fluids or infectious waste Experience clearing sidewalks and entrances of snow and debris Experience mixing solvents and chemicals Experience using manual or electrical cleaning equipment Work experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital is preferred. (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms, resident rooms, offices or public areas, mopping, scrubbing, sweeping and buffing.)

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
