Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia. The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options. The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Working from our office in Duluth, Georgia, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing evidence-based behavior intervention plans and programs to support individuals with behavioral challenges. This role collaborates with families, educators, and support staff to foster skill development, promote positive behaviors, and enhance the quality of life for individuals across diverse settings.

All GACA staff must be able to participate in monthly in-person activities, including but not limited to:

  • School and department meetings,

  • Student engagement opportunities,

  • Required training/development,

  • School-level events, such as state testing and graduation.

The BCBA will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and analyze data to identify the functions of challenging behaviors.

  • Develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) tailored to individual needs and based on evidence-based practices.

  • Establish measurable goals and monitor progress to ensure program effectiveness.

  • Train and supervise staff, including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), paraprofessionals, and other support personnel, in the delivery of behavior-analytic interventions

  • Observe sessions regularly to provide coaching and feedback to staff and ensure fidelity of implementation

  • Adjust interventions as necessary based on data and ongoing assessment.

  • Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and multidisciplinary planning to advocate for the individual’s needs

  • Develop and deliver training sessions for staff and caregivers on behavior management strategies, ABA principles, and other relevant topics

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, progress, and program adjustments

  • Prepare reports and data summaries as needed for stakeholders and regulatory bodies

  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Current BCBA certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

  • Strong understanding of ABA principles and behavior management strategies

  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets products)

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Customer focused approach

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Experience in writing policies and procedures

  • Expert knowledge of IDEA and Georgia Rules and Regulations in regard to Special Education

  • Expert knowledge in FTE funding rules and reporting

  • High degree of flexibility

  • Team player with demonstrated leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
