What you will do

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The purpose of this job is to provide professional support as a competent designer within a formal engineering process or a major project. This position performs routine and more complex engineering support tasks that support the mission of the department and Volvo GTO with guidance from higher level designer and/or technical leader. This position requires the ability to interpret the principles, theories, engineering standards and concepts of a specialized technical area and to apply them in an innovative and original method to further the mission of the organization.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serves as an experienced designer in a specialized and/or complicated area of assignment, completing Order Specifications with limited direction from technical leadership.

• Plans, develops and completes more complex design projects within area of assignment:

Emphasis placed on level of expertise; knowledge; design release integrity, creativity; analysis; and interaction within internal and external organizations.

• Assists in compilation, creation and presentation of detailed documentation and reports.

• Serves as a knowledgeable design resource within area of assignment and/or performs duties in support of a larger project.

• Serves as a CAD resource within Customer Engineering with an emphasis on packaging studies / CAD modules.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The minimum education and experience requirements can be met through any one of the pathways described in the charts below. Please note: In order to meet the minimum requirements, each item listed within the pathway chart must be met.

Path A

Education 2 year Associate Degree in Drafting and Design, Engineering Design Technology, or related design field

Experience 3 years Related design experience

Training Successfully completed CAD training in a major CAD system or ability to demonstrate equivalent skills.
