Bostik, a leading global adhesive specialist, provides lamination adhesives for flexible packaging used in food, medical and industrial applications. Their adhesives enhance the performance of multilayered packaging films by providing strong bonding, added functionality and improved conversation efficiency.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist to lead innovation, development, and optimization of our lamination adhesives product range in North America.

O RGANIZATION

  • Reports to Global R&D Director for AP&C Flexible Laminating

  • Direct reports: 2+ R&D regional Scientist and Technicians

    S AFETY

  • Actively promotes safe behavior in the Department and takes responsibility for safe lab operations.

  • Continuously fosters safe environment with subordinates.

  • Actively participates in department safety initiatives and initiates improvements in them.

  • Leads Department safety meetings and teams

  • Mentors employees in the Department to practice safe working habits and behaviors

    K NOW H OW

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and 6-10 years’ experience in polymer chemistry, or MS or BS degree plus 8-12 years relevant experience.

  • Profound knowledge and experience in the design of polyurethane, polyester and acrylics, preferably around lamination adhesive for flexible food packaging and/or also industrial application.

  • Deep understanding about adhesion theory and reaction kinetics, especially related to polyurethane chemistry and polyester.

  • Solid understanding about technologies and application processes used in the converting industry to produce flexible food packaging, such as extrusion, lamination, printing, …, and its potential influence on adhesive performance.

  • Good understanding about food regulatory requirements in the industry for flexible food packaging.

  • Understands the requirements/challenges for improved sustainability and recyclability of flexible packaging.

  • Good understanding about statistical methods and analysis

  • Applies scientific principles to achieve complex project goals
