Job Title: Microbiology Lab Technician

Job Description

This position involves performing and documenting routine tasks related to sample processing and assays using written operating procedures, standard laboratory methods, and basic laboratory techniques. You will conduct specific procedures and tests both within and outside the laboratory, requiring applied knowledge and practical skills learned from on-the-job experience. Responsibilities include modifying techniques to fit special needs, calculating data from routine tests to final results, and evaluating such results for accuracy. You will assist with and occasionally perform specialized tests and assays, maintain records, and coordinate work with other technicians and scientists.

You will provide support to the laboratory department by performing and/or coordinating various laboratory processes. Duties include receiving, registering, and preparing samples for general analytical testing, performing routine to complex analyses per NQAC methods, and reading and recording analysis results. You will operate basic laboratory equipment, prepare standards and reagents, clean equipment, generate data, maintain lab cleanliness, interpret customer requests, conduct preliminary data interpretations, and draft reports. Adherence to safety regulations and performing other assigned duties are essential.

You will also assure the quality of results by assisting with the establishment and maintenance of QA documents, plans, and ICPs, documenting QA data, and ensuring equipment maintenance. Identifying and resolving process or analytical methodology problems, assisting in documentation for processes or methods, and participating in training programs are also part of your responsibilities.
