POSITION SUMMARY: 

As a valued member of the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, the Boat Rental Manager is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient management and administration of all aspects of facility operations including employees, equipment and patrons.  Reports directly to the Recreation Supervisor.  Deals effectively with people of all ages.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Organizes, coordinates and manages all boating operations including collection of fees, rentals, programs and associated forms and reports.
  • Operates and maintains all equipment, docks, grounds and facilities of the boat rental in excellent condition at all times. Notifies Recreation Supervisor of any equipment or facility repair issues.
  • Supervises and trains employees including assigning and explaining duties, preparing work schedules, timesheets and performance evaluations.
  • Manages money including cash register operation, completion of financial reports and banking.
  • Enforces safety standards and emergency procedures for operation of boat rental.
  • Acquires and maintains certifications or attends training classes as required by the department.
  • Works closely with Recreation Supervisor to promote boating and other Parks and Recreation facilities/activities and to implement boating programs.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

     

     

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Any combination of experience and training that affords the applicant an opportunity to gain the above listed knowledge, skill and ability.

 

  • Experience managing a boat center preferred or experience in a retail/service oriented business desired.
  • Familiarity with any aspect of sailing, kayaking and canoeing a plus.  Also familiar with PA water and boating regulations.
  • American Red Cross CPR and/or first aid certification a plus. Successful completion of American Red Cross (or Boy Scout) Small Craft Safety Course a plus.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule up to but not exceeding 40 hours a week including weekends and holidays (weather dependent).
  • Possess excellent math skills.
  • Experience working with people of all ages, handling emergencies and resolving conflicts in a clear and precise manner.
  • Possess excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Highly motivated, personable and a self-starter.
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Current FBI Fingerprint, PA Child Abuse, and PA Criminal Background check clearances as required by law
