POSITION SUMMARY: 

Assist in the overall operations of the Bucks County Youth Center.  It includes overseeing laundry operations, i.e., sort, wash/dry and fold resident/Youth Center laundry items and make simple sewing repairs.  In addition, assist Cooks daily which also includes implementing the daily nutritional and food service requirements mandated by county, state, and federal agencies.  Flexibility required.  Must be able to work WEEKDAYS, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating commercial washers and dryers daily.
  • Folding and organizing facility laundry.
  • Set up dining room for meals. 
  • Operating dishwasher daily.
  • Requires working in the service wing area receiving deliveries for the facility and BCIU (education department).
  • Moves incoming products to proper storage locations and rotates stock as necessary.
  • Distributes and rotates all food, non-food, janitorial, medical, and health & beauty aid supplies for the entire facility.
  • Heavy lifting - +50 lbs. or seldom 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance of another employee or cart.
  • Responsible for all vendors/repairmen entering the facility -- logging in/out.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of all storage areas and equipment in the service wing.
  • Participates in the orientation and in-service training of food service and service wing personnel.
  • Participates in daily morning meetings.
  • Obey all safety rules and regulations.
  • Report unusual conditions, questionable items and any incidents to the Operations Supervisor and the on-duty Supervisor.
  • Assists trainers in set up/break down of all in-house trainings.
  • Work weekends and holidays as required by Supervisor.
  • Serves as backup for Cooks including daily food prep and kitchen clean up.
  • Responsible for the locking and security of the food service and service wing areas.
  • Must be physically fit to perform the above duties with the ability to work for extended periods under hot and humid conditions.
  • Travel in County owned vehicle to obtain supplies at local stores.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

     

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Valid Drivers' license and auto insurance.
  • Two (2) years' responsible experience working in the food service/service wing fields -- Serve Safe Certification.
  • Must be able to work with and adapt to troubled teenagers in a secure facility.
  • Proficient keyboard and computer skills.
  • Maintain proper security in the food service and service wing areas.
  • Work schedule will rotate and include weekends and holidays.  Starting and finishing times can rotate daily.
