The University of Miami Health System at Doral has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Pharmacist 3 with a hire date of May 2024.

The University of Miami Health System will soon open the second phase to our state-of-the-art facility in Downtown Doral that serves as a western hub for our distinguished regional network of ambulatory services. This 160,000 square foot expansion will continue to bring world-class academic medicine, cutting-edge technology, and innovative treatment options to the rapidly growing Doral community. UHealth at Doral will have services through the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and the Desai Sethi Urology Institute, as well as specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, dermatology, and more. The expansion will provide residents with innovative, specialized medical services in the heart of their community. Once complete, UHealth at Doral will have 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and supporting ancillary services like imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. UHealth at Doral will open in September 2024.

SUMMARY

The Pharmacist compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare facility environment. Also, an employee in this position transfers prescriptions, handles incoming physician calls, logs data into applicable databases, and performs drug utilization review.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policies and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.

  • Compounds and dispenses medications, as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.

  • Calculates the volume of medication required to produce the desired results to ensure proper dosages.

  • Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.

  • Reviews prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain the needed ingredients, and evaluate suitability.

  • Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.

  • Analyzes prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent inappropriate usage or harmful interactions.

  • Maintains records, such as pharmacy and system files, patient profiles, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries for poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.

  • Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Pharm.D. degree

Certification and Licensing:

Florida Health Department Pharmacist

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
