RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT Surry County Office of Substance Abuse Recovery Surry Transition Project - Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor The Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC) works within the Office of Substance Abuse Recovery to provide substance use focused counseling and pre-release and post release support to detainees within the Surry County Detention Center. The position will work closely with the SCOSAR Director, Detention Center Staff and SCOSAR Staff in the delivery of high-quality secure custody clinical behavioral health care and pre-release planning. This position requires knowledge of the unique needs of criminal justice system participants and families and local community service agencies. The CADC provides education, individual and group counseling for participating detainees based on program policies and expectations. The staff will serve as a lead in ensuring pre-release detainee plans are created for each client served and ensuring coordinated services with local service providers after release. It is expected that the CADC will participate in departmental training and collaborate with other treatment providers while following strict ethical and clinical guidelines. The staff member will be expected to work with the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team which includes staff from County departments and community organizations. Additional responsibilities include team activities, documentation, individual and group sessions, crisis intervention and quality assurance knowledge and understanding of ASAM Placement Criteria is a must. This position reports directly to the SCOSAR Director. DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A Bachelors Degree and valid Certification to practice in North Carolina from the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board as Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Exceptionally qualified CADC eligible or provisionally registered individuals may be considered with a requirement to complete certification within three years. At least four years of professional experience in the human services, social services, criminal justice or related field is recommended. Understanding of criminogenic needs and the criminal justice system is a must. Ability to work independently using effective communication, patient/customer care, and leadership abilities while having effective time management skills is a must. Requires a valid drivers licensure insurable at regular rates. SALARY RANGE: Grade 64 $36,037 - $59,351 This position is grant funded from the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
