Research Assistant - Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences

Essential functions (job duties):

JOB PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Associate Director, provide scientific and technical assistance to

complete office based research. May assist in writing research protocols and in manuscript preparation. Design and perform research protocols independently or as directed through training in more difficult or specialized procedures to meet the needs of the research protocol.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Perform data management which includes: data base management, data collection, auditing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting. Collect and review registration, evaluation, and survey data. Evaluate and present data using graphs, charts or tables to highlight the key outcome results collected in accordance with the grant guidelines as stipulated.

  • Assist program evaluator and associate director with summarizing/organizing data to be used in publications, preparing and presenting presentations for community, professional, grant funding opportunities and conferences.

  • Assist faculty with the execution of major project initiative through the collection of all survey data. Manage learning management system used for the program.

  • Assist in the designing of data collection instruments and perform analysis, develop surveys, evaluation reports and analyze data. Evaluate and present data using graphs, charts or tables to highlight the key outcome results collected in accordance with the grant guidelines.

  • Under the supervision of the associate director, prepare quarterly and annual progress reports for submission to grant funder.

  • Coordinate and deliver trainings to the Regional Center Program Managers for standardized data collection for all protocols and projects.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Bachelor's degree

Bachelor’s degree in related field of study, (including public health, community health, education, statistics), especially coursework in survey research. Working toward a Master's degree is an advantage.

Experience Entry level (less that a year of job-related experience)

Experience using databases and database programming. Experience performing basic analytical techniques. Experience working with community-based organizations helpful.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work independently. Ability to analyze, summarize and interpret research findings and data in reports and spreadsheets and communicate results. Excellent time management and organization skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment. Microsoft office software skills.
