Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Intern Full Year - Information Technology in Detroit, Michigan
We have an exciting Full-Year Internship available within our IT Application Management team at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM). Please Note: * This is a paid full-year internship; the intern would work part-time while school is in session and full-time during the summer - only candidates that are able to work this type of schedule should apply. * Hybrid work structure, which requires working minimum one day per week on-site at our downtown Detroit office. We provide free parking directly connected to our building. About the Role This Full-Year Internship opportunity will involve: * Assist in designing and maintaining SharePoint sites, ensuring user-friendly interfaces and optimal functionality. * Write and troubleshoot scripts (PERL) to automate processes and enhance workflows. * Willingness to create and manage data-driven reports using Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and other advanced functions. * Collaborate with the team to analyze data and represent it effectively using charts, graphs in excel and BI reporting tool. The Internship Program at BCBSM is designed to enhance the skills and abilities of young professionals as well as to identify and attract future talent for our organization. Interns will gain practical hands-on work experience as well as a solid understanding of the health insurance industry. Additional aspects of internship may include: * Participate in networking events with BCBSM leaders and other interns * Engage in volunteer activities/community outreach to build knowledge of our communities and customers. * Participate in departmental meetings and events (e.g., monthly Diversity and Inclusion events, department wide team building events, weekly meetings to ensure team alignment, etc.) * Assist in preparing information and research materials to identify business problems, offer recommendations and assist management with implementation of solutions. * Support leaders on projects designed to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization. Department's Preferred Skills for Role: * SharePoint design and management. * Knowledge of PERL scripting and willingness to learn and apply it effectively. * Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP. * Proficiency in Microsoft Word for creating professional documents. * Proficiency in Visio for diagram creation. * Basic understanding of data analysis, visualization, and reporting. * Experience with other scripting or programming languages. * Knowledge of database management or business intelligence tools. REQUIREMENTS: * Current undergraduate or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA or higher. * Interns must be enrolled in a four-year college/university or a Master's/PhD program for the duration of the internship. * Proficient in Microsoft Office suites and applicable BCBSM systems. * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. * Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. * Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. * Responsible for maintaining confidential information to the highest degree.
