POSITION SUMMARY
The Director, Applications will lead the strategy, development, implementation, and management of Bedrock’s real estate technology applications. This role is crucial in ensuring that our technology solutions meet the needs of our business and drive operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial real estate, application development, project management, excellent leadership skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for leveraging technology to achieve business goals.
At Bedrock we have an on-site work environment in order to deliver industry-leading support to our tenants, residents, our overall portfolio of properties and developments, and our internal business teams. At this time our Information Technology Team works Monday–Thursday in our offices in Downtown Detroit, MI, and Fridays could be required based on team & business needs.
ESSENTAIL FUNTIONS
Implement and lead a comprehensive strategy for technology applications that aligns with Bedrock’s goals and objectives. Working closely with business stakeholders, identify opportunities for new applications and enhancements to existing systems.
Lead and manage the technology applications team, including roles focused on specific applications. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of application development projects. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, within budget, and communicated appropriately, including change management.
Work closely with other leaders and business teams to understand their business needs and provide tailored recommendations for technology solutions that enhance productivity and efficiency. Act as a liaison between technology and other business units to ensure seamless integration of applications.
Develop and maintain relationships with application vendors and service providers. Evaluate and negotiate with vendors to secure the best value for the company. Effectively manage all application contracts to budget, including vendor risk management, new contracts, renewals, and invoicing.
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the technology applications team, exploring new tools and methodologies to enhance the company's technological capabilities.
Ensure the security and integrity of Bedrock’s applications and data. Work with other technology teams collaboratively to implement robust security measures and stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for technology applications. Regularly assess the performance of applications and the applications team, making data-driven decisions to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop and manage technology application roadmap, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring cost-efficiency and optimal allocation of resources.
Innovate and optimize how the business interacts with software to improve business performance and outcomes.
Responsible for the effective change management, communication, and coordination of application releases, updates & upgrades
Operate as a key IT stakeholder and/or subject matter expert in new software implementations or system migrations

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Business, a related field, or equivalent work experience (Required)
10-12 years of experience; minimum 7 years of experience working in the commercial real estate industry, with familiarity across vertically integrated development, construction, and property management processes (Required)
Minimum of 7 years in Information Systems or a related field with significant work in accounting, budgeting/forecasting, and financial real estate applications support systems (Required)
Experience leading technical teams in architecture, development, and integration planning and execution (Required)
Experience working with business partners gathering business requirements to create technical specifications, plans, and business cases for projects (Required)
Experience building and running a high-performing team (Preferred)
