Behavioral Center of Michigan CTRS Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in Detroit, Michigan
The therapist is responsible for the provision of Activity Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge leisure planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient’s behavior, such as cognitive, social, emotional or physical. The therapist educates the client in healthy coping skills, and available leisure resources to continue the client in post-discharge leisure planning and involvement. The therapist will be responsible for the provision of services according to the current standards of practice. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program; Certification by National Certification Board (NCTRC); Experience in psychiatric setting (preferred); Basic computer skills; ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing; additional languages preferred.
