Dragados USA Contracts Lead - I75 in Detroit, Michigan

Principal/Essential Duties & Responsibilities * Request and submit prime contract documents, bonds, and insurance certificates to satisfy prime contract requirements * Prepare appropriate subcontract forms, including all attachments, flow-down language, and Terms & Conditions in a form consistent with Company procedures * Serve as liaison between internal management and subcontractors during contract development and negotiation * Maintain contract files in a manner that supports accounting and audit purposes throughout construction and close-out * Collaborate with procurement, cost control and project managers to define contract requirements and ensure proper contractual procedures are followed in the procurement process * Assure basic contract terms meet company standards, and seek and obtain approval of the Project Director for any exceptions * Monitor subcontract execution progress and provide management of status reports related claims, accruals, cost, etc. * Notify management of contract mark-ups * Verify that subcontractor has appropriate insurance coverage and licensing * Ensure that contracts are accurately executed * Follow Company policies with respect to subcontractor insurance coverage, pre-liens and lien releases * Oversee the Company M/W/DBE Contractor Compliance Policy and Procedure Manual * Develop a master source list of vetted subcontractors and vendors and ensure the list is being updated and continuous efforts are being made to locate and vet qualified and capable subcontractors and vendors * Develop and maintain a central repository for M/W/DBE Program documents, and records relating to the M/W/DBE participation for each project * Keep current with M/W/DBE minority business best practices and represent the company in networking events and forums in an effort to increase minority business participation * Coordinate and conduct company-wide or project-wide M/W/DBE training, as required * Coordinate and manage all Change Orders, Claims, etc with the subcontractors. * Draft letters to subcontractors before approval of the Department/ Project Director. * Assist to all claims process until resolution. * Main contact for all subcontractors / Prime Contractor representative. * Performs other related duties as required and assigned. Qualifications * 10+ years of prime and subcontract management experience * General knowledge of minority business rules, regulations, and practices * Attention to detail is critical * Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint * Good writing skill related communications and letters to subcontractors. * Experience working with DOT contracts and local municipalities preferred * General knowledge of construction industry preferred * Legal background will be appreciated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies * Communication - excellent oral presentation and written skills * Goal oriented - able to set goals and achieve them * Organizational ability - able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects. Able to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach
