Associate Director, Training and Program Development- CBHJ

Essential functions (job duties):
The School of Social Work Center for Behavioral Health and Justice (CBHJ) is developing a training and program development unit aimed at equipping CBHJ team members with initial, timely, and ongoing support and resources to enhance their knowledge and skills essential to the center’s work. The Associate Director, Training and Program Development will identify key areas of knowledge and expertise required during onboarding, as well as in skill improvement and overseeing the development, implementation, monitoring, and facilitation of training for CBHJ team members. Content areas include understanding the behavioral health and criminal legal systems; the intersections between the systems; theory of change; external facilitation of change; working within political systems, translation and implementation science, and evaluation design. The Associate Director will work in concert with other directors to train managers on grant writing, grant reporting, data acquisition/management and manuscript development. This position will report to the Director, Implementation.
Identify key areas of improvement to support the learning of CBHJ team members and align with the Center’s strategic plan. Regularly liaise between CBHJ managers and directors to ensure alignment of activities with the Center’s needs and goals.
Develop, implement, and/or facilitate training opportunities geared to all staff levels to increase relevant knowledge, and skill sets specific to the CBHJ including the behavioral health and criminal legal systems, theory of change, external facilitation of change, political systems, translation and implementation science, and evaluation design.
Lead the development of learning solutions that are functional, intuitive, informative, and engaging and that employ the appropriate teaching modalities for the content being taught.
Oversee the development of regular webinars and workshops including the recruitment of behavioral health and criminal legal experts.
Maintain a current understanding of behavioral health and criminal legal systems and trends related to learning, practices, and innovations.
Lead training for management and senior staff on grant writing/reporting, data acquisition/management, and manuscript development.
Identify key funding opportunities for training and professional development at the local, state, and national levels to support activities. Assist with the preparation of grant applications related to training and development.
Identify and build relationships with current and potential funders, program officers, and staff related to seeking sustainable funding for training and development.
Provide oversight in the CBHJ training and development unit with continuous quality improvement initiatives related to educational and operational programming.
Draft reports and provide recommendations for learning programs optimization based on feedback from staff, managers, directors, and key external partners.
Supervise full-time and part-time Project Coordinators and Program Assistants. Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the School of Social Work policies, bargaining unit contracts, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, onboarding/offboarding, and training staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; regular supervision, coaching, motivating, and disciplining staff; performance evaluation; and review approval of travel requests and absence requests.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education Master's degree
Master’s Degree from an accredited university with a concentration in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Public Health, or related field.
Doctoral coursework/training preferred.
Experience Intermediate (3 to 4 years job-related experience)
3+ years of experience at the CBHJ or similar research center focusing on related policies.
3 to 5 years’ experience working with or within behavioral health and/or criminal legal systems.
Demonstrated understanding of theory of change, translation and implementation science, and evaluation design.

Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of complex administrative systems software, preferably in the higher education environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel and Teams. Ability to understand and translate complex concepts into lay terms.
