We have an opportunity for a Senior Advanced R&D Engineer Scientist – Process Design Development to join Honeywell UOP’s Research and Development organization. This position affords a unique and visible opportunity to develop engineering solutions for new process technologies from their inception in R&D through the commercialization stage, with special emphasis in the sustainability arena. In this role, you will work with other members of the Development organization, as well as UOP’s Engineering Department, Research Group, and Business Team. The annual base salary range for this position is $137,000-$155,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·You will develop simulations, material balances, preliminary equipment designs, CAPEX and utilities estimates for new process technology concepts based on preliminary yield & performance estimates

·You will use commercial process simulation software to establish the basis for the evaluation and optimization of design concepts

·You will perform techno-economic analyses (TEAs) of process concepts including the assessment of key parameters impacting process profitability, safety, and reliability

·You will lead the generation of Basic Engineering Packages (BEPs) for new process technologies as the primary means of transferring new process technologies from R&D to Engineering

·The technology development teams that you collaborate with will be cross-functional and will include specialists from R&D, Engineering, and Technical Services as well as the Business team

·Sustainability efforts will be at the forefront of your work, which will include CO2 emission and life-cycle assessment evaluations of technologies

YOU MUST HAVE:

·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

·5+ years of experience in a Technology, Engineering, Research & Development, or Technical Service role within the refining, petrochemical, gas processing, or sustainability/renewables industries is required.

WE VALUE:

·PhD or Advanced Degree with a preference to Chemical Engineering

·10+ years of experience in a Technology, Engineering, Research & Development, or Technical Service role within the refining, petrochemical, gas processing, or renewables industries

·Knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals

·Experience in process engineering, including proficiency in Unisim, development of heat and material balance, process flow diagrams (PFDs), preliminary equipment design and process design specifications

·Understanding/knowledge of a range of UOP technologies and processes

·Familiarity with life-cycle assessment calculations and reviews

·Excellent written & verbal communication skills to ensure solution definition & clear project requirements

·Strong interest in R&D work, self-starting and demonstrated leadership aptitude
