An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an Advanced R&D Engineer Scientist in the Process Design & Development (PDD) group within UOP's Research and Development organization located in Des Plaines, IL. This position affords a unique and visible opportunity to develop process design & technoeconomic evaluations which are critical to the development and support of new process technologies from their inception in R&D through the commercialization stage. In this role, you will work with other members of the Development organization, as well as UOP’s Engineering Department, Research Group, and Business Team. The annual base salary range for this position is $122,000-$145,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· You will develop simulations, material balances, preliminary equipment designs and utilities estimates for new process technology concepts based on preliminary yield & performance estimates

· You will use commercial process simulation software to establish the basis for the evaluation and optimization of design concepts

· You will perform techno-economic analyses (TEAs) of process concepts including the assessment of key parameters impacting process profitability, safety, and reliability

· You will generate Basic Engineering Packages (BEPs) for new process technologies as the primary means of transferring new process technologies from R&D to Engineering

· The technology development teams that you collaborate with will be cross-functional and will include specialists from R&D, Engineering, and Technical Services as well as the Business team

YOU MUST HAVE:

·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

·3+ years of experience in a Technology, Engineering, Research & Development, or Technical Service role withing the refining, petrochemical, gas processing, or renewables industries is required.

WE VALUE:

·Masters or Ph.D with a preference in Chemical Engineering

·Knowledge of chemical engineering fundamentals including fluid flow, heat transfer, mass transfer, separations, and reaction engineering.

·Knowledge of UOP technologies: Refining / Petrochemicals / Aromatics / Gas Processing / STS applications.

·Experience in process engineering

·Familiarity with Renewables, Sustainability efforts, including CO2 emission and life-cycle assessment evaluations of technologies

·Excellent written & verbal communication skills to ensure solution definition & clear project requirements

·Interest in R&D work, self-starting and leadership / mentoring aptitude and potential

·Experience and capability in statistics, experimental design and data analytics.
