Distinguishing Features of the Class
Performs field investigations/inspections of stormwater infrastructure and completes reporting/analysis of stormwater data.
120-Day assignment working up to 40 hours weekly depending on available work. Typical employment duration is 4 consecutive months.
Acceptable Experience and Training
Completion of one (1) year in an Environmental Science, Engineering or related program with course work in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Geographic Information Systems, or Environmental Engineering;
Or any other combination of experience and education that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work;
Preferred experience with Microsoft Excel and ArcGIS.

Required Special Qualifications
Possession of a valid Iowa driver's license.

Performs stormwater sampling and field analysis of stormwater outfalls at creeks and open water bodies;
Completes construction runoff control inspections;
Investigates illicit discharges;
Updates GIS and stormwater permit data;
Assists with stormwater permit compliance;
Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification
