Principal Financial Group Sr Data & Analytics Consultant in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

We are seeking a Senior Data & Analytics Consultant to join our Data & Analytics Participant Marketing Team. In this role you will drive the development of data solutions that influence business decisions and address key challenges. You’ll demonstrate your business and technical competence to lead analytics projects, deliver data-driven solutions, and collaborate closely with partners to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Consulting: Align data, analytics, and business goals to deliver actionable insights. Collaborate with partners and team members to define project scope, gather requirements, and prioritize work you're doing.

  • Portfolio Management: Lead all aspects of analytics project portfolios, ensuring alignment with business strategies and providing regular updates to partners on progress and challenges.

  • Customer Success: Act as a liaison with team members, driving success by leading critical moments in the customer lifecycle and delivering business reviews.

  • Delivery Expertise: Build and maintain metrics, reports, and dashboards (e.g., Power BI) to support key business decisions. Create visualizations to scale operations and measure success.

  • Agile Framework: Implement and lead Agile processes, coach teams, and ensure consistent updates and feedback on projects.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred in statistics, mathematics, engineering, or business analytics) with 5-7 years of experience in analytics, consulting, or project management.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and drive business solutions.

  • Expertise in business analytics, performance evaluation, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Proven track record to influence team members, prioritize, and deliver results in fast-paced environments.

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and influencing decision-making through clear, data-driven insights.

Skills that Will Help you Stand out:

  • Advanced SQL, SAS, Power BI, Tableau or other analytic tools

  • Experience working with Digital Performance measurements and Marketing Campaigns (execution & reporting) at scale preferred

  • Retirement/financial services industry experience preferred

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$95200 - $182400 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical work week), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
