Wells Fargo Senior Counsel, Senior AVP (Fair Lending) – Consumer Lending Division in DES MOINES, Iowa

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Counsel, Senior AVP to join the Regulatory Matters and Customer Experience Team within the Legal Department’s Consumer Lending Division.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide legal advice and support to Wells Fargo’s consumer lending lines of business (Auto Lending, Cards, Home Lending, Personal Lending), with a primary focus on the Auto and Cards businesses

  • Address questions relating to compliance with fair lending laws and regulations, including the Equal Opportunity Act, Regulation B, and the Fair Housing Act

  • Evaluate credit policies and models

  • Advise on strategic business initiatives

  • Independently resolve moderately complex issues and lead team to meet deliverables

  • Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution

  • Provide timely risk escalation and awareness items to management and other stakeholders as appropriate

  • Collaborate within the Legal Department and across business and enterprise functions to address legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with the best interests of Wells Fargo.

  • Work directly with business clients and develop an in depth understanding of business unit activities and products

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience counseling financial institutions on fair lending risk related to pricing, credit policies, and credit models

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex consumer lending laws and regulations quickly and effectively

  • Experience counseling a large and sophisticated business client on legal, regulatory, and reputational risks arising from complex matters in a highly regulated field

  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective solution-based legal advice taking into consideration legal risk and business objectives

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling multiple matters

  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration

  • Effective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team

  • Strong judgment and leadership skills in guiding and influencing management, including senior management

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$120,400.00 - $262,600.00
