Join the MercyOne Family! We are looking to hire a Neurology Assistant.

As a Neurology Assistant at MercyOne, you will be responsible for a wide range of clinical/clerical activities in the outpatient neurology clinic setting. Assists medical and nursing staff with coordination of patient care, administers testing per physician orders. Reports to clinic manager.

Schedule:

  • Full Time

General Requirements:

  • Coordination of clerical/clinical/testing functions of neurology patients.

  • Performs EMGs per physician orders.

  • Rooms patients, obtaining vitals and appropriate history information. Documents clinical

  • information per clinic guidelines.

  • Arranges additional testing in a timely fashion. Assists in tracking results and notification of patients.

  • Maintains exam and consult rooms. Keeps required supplies stocked in each room.

  • Assists in maintenance of patient records.

  • Obtains insurance authorizations for testing, procedures, lab, medication as appropriate or

  • directed.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

· Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.

· Maintains supply inventory and stocks supplies in various work areas.

· Participates in Performance Improvement activities as appropriate.

· Maintains orderly, neat appearance of work area.

· Assists with nursing chart audits.

· Misc. office duties (i.e. greeting patients, answering phones, filing or retrieving medical records, scheduling patient, verifying authorizations, sorting and distributing mail, updating demographic and insurance information.).

Education:

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • General high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Knowledge or medical terminology. Medical office or equivalent experience preferred.

  • 1 year direct public contact, preferably in a medically oriented organization.

  • Obtain CPR certification within six (6) months of hire date

  • Mandatory reporting completed within 90 days of hire date
