Overview

To plan, organize, execute and control work activities of Associate personnel so as to support the policies and procedures of the Medical Center to maintain the highest possible sanitary standards and good public relations with all people concerned. This will ensure the safety, health, morale and recovery of patients, visitors and employees by making a clean, attractive, and safe environment.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates nitiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.
  • Integrates and demonstrates CORE values and Expectations for Personal and Service Excellence to guide professional behaviors, while adhering to the policies and procedures of UnityPoint Health-Des Moines.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities; be open and objective to others views; give and welcome feedback; contribute to positive team goals; and put the success of the team above own interests.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
  • Performs job tasks and duties as outlined in the job description/task list while in a secured area.
  • Nursing and Department specific decides who is granted access to rooms that contain medications/supplies.
  • Surveys Medical Center facilities for compliance with departmental standards.
  • Seeks to establish good public relations with Medical Center visitors, patients, Medical Staff and Medical center personnel; assists patients and visitors with directions, etc.; enters into Medical Center activities, safety programs, Quality control programs and committees; insures customer service comments are handled quickly and thoroughly.
Qualifications

Education: HS Diploma or GED equivalent. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

Experience: Prefers one (1) year previous supervisory or management experience.
