Principal Financial Group Info Security Engineer II in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

Security is critical for our customers to ensure their data and products are safe. We are looking for someone to help shape the teams that support the solutions, employees, and agile teams within our IAM Platform.   • Able to work with guidance on software development/solutions. Participate in technical design of features. Develop an understanding of technical aspects of infrastructure management functions including performance, capacity, scalability, recovery, & maintenance. Remain current on security best practices in the industry by continually increasing security knowledge.

  • Able to work with guidance on multiple layers of the solution as needed. Ensure established controls, policies, regulations and recommend mitigation strategies are followed during development.

  • Assist in communicating technical concepts to business stakeholders as well as communicate business objectives to the technical team.

  • Focus on growing as an engineer, learning existing tools, resources, security processes, and gaining a more in depth

  • Understanding of the technical aspects of infrastructure management functions including performance, capacity, scalability, recovery, maintenance, and security.

  • Participate in technical design of features with guidance.

  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.

  • Stay abreast of security concerns/vulnerabilities for all types of information systems both hardware and software.

  • Take ownership of small to medium features from technical design through completion which could include conducting analysis and development, eliciting requirements, automating testing, debugging, documentation, implementation, and maintenance

Who You Are

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering, or math-related field) and 2+ years’ work experience or equivalent experience

  • Software development experience required (Typescript or Python)

  • API and Web development experience preferred (React, REST API)

  • Infrastructure as Code experience preferred (AWS CDK, Terraform)

  • General knowledge of AWS services preferred

  • Proven experience as an IT professional

  • Proficiency with database applications, knowledge of mainframe, distributed and/or web programming language

  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality

  • Must have the desire and ability to learn new technology and continuously grow

  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams and collaborate with both IT and non-IT partners

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$63750 - $121200 / year

Time Off Program

Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
