Principal Financial Group Customer Experience (CX) Intern in Des Moines, Iowa

What You'll Do

As a Customer Experience Intern, you'll partner across the US Benefits and Protection Experience team (CX and UX) to bring experiences to life!

This role will provide support in the development of customer experiences, as well as translation of the vision into tangible business goals and capabilities. Influence in the customer experience function extends to a variety of abilities, with focus on understanding the customer through insights and identifying the problems to be solved.

Though your experience, here's where you may assist:

  • Socializing customer insights across business functions to bring action

  • Uncovering and refining additional customer insight sources

  • Cataloging & prioritizing insights for long-term sustainable use

  • Analyzing available data to partner with team members on project work

This area partners with many areas within Principal which includes teams like new business, marketing, product management, sales and compensation, technology, finance, and many more. Getting to know the many areas in our organization is a phenomenal way to learn and develop your skills and build lasting professional relationships!

Who You Are

  • Currently pursuing or completed undergraduate degree in a relevant degree program such as marketing, data analytics, psychology, organizational design, research, design, or general business degree

  • The ability to take initiative, be a self-starter, collaborate with individuals at all levels, and build relationships required

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and leadership skills influence proven through formal positions in student organizations, community involvement or employment experiences.

  • Ability to learn and thrive in 'the gray'

  • Strong academic performance

What Will Help You Stand Out

  • Leadership, community engagement, and involvement beyond the classroom

  • Experience with Excel or Power BI

  • Exposure to Medallia or Qualtrics

Internship Stipend

You will receive a lump sum stipend of $3,000. This amount is intended to support incidental expenses you may incur as part of your internship. The Company will provide a tax gross-up on this stipend as a financial benefit but is not intended to compensate for all tax liabilities.

40 hours per week

Location:

Based at the Principal Headquarters in Des Moines IA

Pay Rates:

$18.00 to $20.00 per hour depending upon previous internship experience

Salary Range Information

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly)

$18 - $20 / hour

Time Off Program

Paid company holidays and any time off required in your state.
