Job Description

The Department of Administrative Services is seeking anAccounting Tech 2to join our Finance Team!

If you enjoy a variety of tasks while processing documents for multiple entities this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.

This position will manage invoices for payment on behalf of the Enterprise of DAS based upon the rules and regulations established by the State Accounting Enterprise. Reconcile all invoices and statements so applicable discounts are taken and all legal requirements are adhered to. Prepare payments documents in the Financial System which include Purchase Orders, payments documents including travel.

Obtain approval for invoices from the appropriate manager including the correct accounting codes for processing of payments. Working directly with management and the CFO to insure payments meet the requirements of state law and recorded against the appropriate account to ensure the monthly financial statements are accurate.

Entering new vendors in the financial system assuring the vendor doesn't exist in the system. The processing of invoices includes DAS and multiple agencies in state government.

Check the Financial System for corrections and verification of the payment documents have processed timely.

Obtain Data Warehouse reports for reconciliation for the assigned accounts. Become proficient with the Point of Sale system to process the checks received for DAS and supported agencies and scan checks to Wells Fargo Bank. Balance the checks/cash to the Point of Sale system to the check scanner data.

Process procurement cards and travel cards document for DAS and supported agencies. Pull the monthly P-Card statements. Obtain all the back-up expenditures and approval from the appropriate supervisor with the documentation for the statement. Special projects as assigned related to finance.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalency and four years of clerical accounting experience which involved the compilation, tabulation, examination, verification or recording of financial, statistical or related fiscal programs using elementary bookkeeping principles and practices;

OR

the successful completion of a post-high school vocational/technical, business college, or area community college curriculum in accounting which included concentrated course work equivalent to twenty semester hours (or more) in accounting;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of employment in clerical office work for each year of the required education;

OR

substituting the successful completion of thirty semester hours or the academic equivalent in a post high school Business, Accounting or closely related curriculum for each year of the required experience;

OR

any equivalent combination of qualifying education or experience;

OR

one year of experience as an Accounting Technician 1 in the State of Iowa classified service will be considered as qualifying;

OR

one year of work experience as an Accounting Clerk 3 in the State of Iowa classified service will be considered as qualifying.
