Description:
The purpose of this position is to provide academic advising to students exploring programs of study and facilitate career development. This position will advise pre-program, nursing and other students.
Essential Duties:
· Provides academic advisement to students exploring programs of study as well as program students. Evaluates student needs and goals and assists them with program selection, course registration and understanding College policies.
· Assists students in career development and understanding the connection between academic program and careers.
· Administers career development services including inventories and online resources in collaboration with faculty and Student Success Center staff.
· Creates ad conducts presentations and workshops for faculty and staff designed to enhance academic advising.
· Assists with the academic early alert and exit processes.
· Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in higher education, advising, student services, psychology, health sciences, business, or related field.
· Master’s Degree Preferred
· Minimum two years’ experience in academic advising, admissions, career counseling or recruitment.
· Successful experience with secondary or college level students.
· Demonstrated experience with assisting with career services.
· Strong, orally, written and presentation skills.
· Demonstrated ability building and maintaining positive relationships.
· Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively.
· Demonstrated leadership skills.
