The Department of Law, Civil Litigation and Employment Law section is seeking aLitigation Managerto manage the section’s litigation related projects and identify opportunities for improvement in the Section’s litigation practices. This position as Litigation Manager offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, to engage in creative problem solving, to meaningfully impact section systems and process, and provide leadership in collaborative teams. The successful candidate will be part of a fast-paced team that strives to bring a new level of efficiency to the Section and DOL. The strongest candidates for this position will be those with a strong legal or paralegal background, project management, and strong technology skills. WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Litigation Manager (Administrator IV) in the Civil Litigation and Employment Law section will manage the section’s litigation related projects and identify opportunities for improvement in the Section’s litigation practices. The position will work closely with the Assistant Deputy Attorney General and unit leaders to identify staffing needs, improve workflows, implement and ensure the use of best practices in litigation matters, and facilitate after action reviews. The position will also assist the Section’s leadership team, including the State and Federal Employment Litigation Program, in managing litigation matters through project management, the coordination of paralegal staffing, and the collection and analysis of data to identify litigation trends and resource needs.
The Litigation Manager will serve as work leader for all section paralegals and will be the legal project manager and a resource for the case intake team. The position will help paralegals by coordinating and monitoring the case data collection, knowledge and document management procedures, and providing quality control assistance for discovery, case information management conventions, collaboration with litigation support, trial preparation and trial presentation.
This position also will identify opportunities for process improvement ensuring the Section’s litigation practices meet or exceed industry standards by assigning tasks, monitoring progress and workflow, checking the product, scheduling work, and establishing work standards. The position will work closely with section leadership and paralegals to develop and implement litigation best practices. The Litigation Manager will also work closely with individual attorneys, staff, and clients to streamline litigation and implement processes, protocols, and procedures aimed at ensuring high quality and consistent work product and litigation services in civil rights work.
In addition, this position will develop manuals and trainings to facilitate the implementation of new practices and procedures as well as memorialize current processes. The position will train paralegals and attorneys on litigation-related systems as they are developed. It will also assist with onboarding new attorneys and paralegals regarding litigation systems and practices in the section.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications and Substitutions: Please document all relevant experience in detail on your application. Experience will not be inferred or assumed. Any part-time experience listed will be prorated.
Requires seven years of professional paralegal, legal administration, or legal case management experience.
OR
A combination of full-time closely related education from an accredited institution (paralegal certificate, paralegal studies, legal studies, public administration, business administration, or a Juris Doctorate) AND professional paralegal, legal administration, or legal case management experience totaling 7 years.
Note: Candidates possessing a foreign degree must submit a translation (evaluation) of their degree from an accredited institution, such as The National Association of Credential Evaluations Services in order to be given credit for the degree.
