GENERAL SUMMARY

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program that serves students overcoming obstacles to education, including limited income, first generation to college, and disability. The Student Success Specialist (Administrative Coordinator) reports to the TRIO Project Director, and provides intentional and intrusive advising to a cohort of SSS participants while supporting day-to-day administrative operations of the SSS project.

Description of Job

PRIMARY DUTIES

The primary objective of this position is to increase the persistence, graduation, and transfer of SSS participants.

The Administrative Coordinator supports the Director of TRIO SSS with day-to-day operations of fiscal management, data management, human resources, annual performance reporting, customer service, and quality assurance; provides intentional and intrusive advising service for TRIO SSS participants, including academic, financial aid, financial literacy, transfer, career, and personal development advising; supervises TRIO SSS Administrative Assistants; collects, interprets, and utilizes data to: assess student needs, assess student learning, monitor student performance, provide intentional and intrusive advising, and evaluate programming; participate in the outreach and intake process for prospective TRIO SSS participants; and performs other duties and special projects supporting student persistence, completion, and transfer, as assigned by the TRIO Project Director.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, business administration or relevant field.

Experience:

Three (3) years in post-secondary academic advising and program coordination, or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Administrative experience

• Excellent customer service

• Knowledge of student advising theory and best practice.

• Project planning and coordination.

• Knowledge of obstacles facing SSS-eligible students.

• Cross-cultural interpersonal skills.

• Data management skills.

• Knowledge of working with underrepresented student populations including students of color, first generation and low income students.

• Effective communication skills.

Licensure/Certification:

Must possess a current Colorado Driver’s License and a have clean Department of Motor Vehicle record.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Education:

Master’s degree in relevant field.

Experience:

Experience working with students overcoming obstacles to education, including limited income, first generation to college, and disability.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Bilingual.

• Knowledge of the mission and operation of Federal TRIO programs.

• Experience with multimedia applications and tools.
